Soon after you’ve finished your CBT, you are able to ride a scooter or a motorcycle up to 125cc along with an energy output of as much as 11kW on the streets. You have to use L plates (L or D plates in Wales) up until you complete your full motorcycle exam.
You have to book CBT via an approved training body (ATB) – each ATB places their own costs.
Situations that do not require CBT
People don’t have to take CBT to drive a scooter should you have completed your automobile driving test prior to 1 February 2001.
Additionally you don’t need to take CBT should you:
- possess a full moped licence from completing a full moped test following 1 December 1990
- possess a full motorbike licence for 1 class and wish to improve to a different one
- reside and drive on some offshore isles
